- Far vos meynstu az s'zenen nisht geven keyn sex-arbeters in di gasn fun Birobidzhan? (What makes you think there were no sex workers in the streets or Birobidzhan?) - A Gan-Eydn, an emese utopiye. (What a place escape to - that sounds like utopia to me)
2.
And only If I I drew upon The map of earth I would have traced A journey here In front of me Which I must start and I must face I'd join the dots to from place to place And looking back Id see my face
3.
Say to me the words you can't express Give to me the love you wont express Say to me the crimes you wont express Say to me the lies you wont confess For the crimes you wont confess For the love you wont express In the crimes you wont express With the crimes you wont confess With the lies you can't express Lies you wont express Crimes you wont express Love you wont express Lies you can't confess The Love you wont express The Love you wont express The Lies you wont express The Life you wont express Crimes you can't express Lies you cant express The love you wont express With the crimes you wont confess The cries You can't express The love you wont express The lies you wont confess The love you wont express The crime you cant express

Still 06:13
I will say I love you - You will set me free Today our love will undo -Together you and me I will say I love you - You'll ask me to leave Today our love will undo - it wasn't meant to be You want to be with him - But I want to be she Today our love will undo - Together you and me You will always love him - He was meant to be Today our love will undo - Together you and me You will always love him - As you remember me Today our love will undo - Together you and me You will always love - He wasn't meant to be Today out love will undo - Together you and me I will always love you - I'm forever free Today out love will undo - Still forever you and me

I am a champion, I am the low Of a hate so hollow, so shallow and low Love is an island, love is a craze A pain thats stable is a pain that stays Can you imagine me being there? I made the journey but I failed to dare I am a triumph, I am the sky Of love so jealous it feels like a lie A kiss that burns me is a kiss that fades A heart that needs me is heart that breaks Can you imagine me being there? When I failed the journey I only I made the dare
6.
I'm here to say when I feel this way That a friend and a foe can be the same Well I'm afraid to say It happened again and I, I've lost faith in the man And I tend to believe that if I don't stop to grieve Then I'm asking to much of myself And if you tend to agree then you must let me be Or I, I'll loose faith in myself Yeah I, I'll loose faith in myself
7.
It's a fine line between the exotic and the grotesque Wouldn't you say?
8.
Own 05:17
Maybe it's an attitude - Tell us that were in the mood Understand a point of view - Think about the things you do Own it baby when you're out Lots of things to talk about - I can't hear music when you shout Always put the feelers out - Approaching a roundabout Own it baby when you're out I can only speak the truth - When it's up for me to do Don't get angry when you loose - Keep it cool and keep it good Own it baby when you're out In the city we belong - Dressing up or down ain't wrong Just because the looks are long - Don't mean that you cant be strong Own it baby when you're out It's our city we belong - Don't give up on where you're from Days are hard and weeks are long - So come on out and sing the song Own it baby when you're out
9.
I don't want a lover - I just need a friend Please just leave me here - To face life on my own I know you don't love me no more - I knew this day it would come Even when it hurts so deep - and still I don't want you But the harder I try - The more I seem to lose It seems a different story - and it's me who's in the wrong But you can have it all - Cause I'm the one who's strong I've already been hurt before - Once and always again I hope the time will come - someone will need me then I don't want a lover - I just need a friend I've had time to recover - Now that I know it wasn't love You don't even care for what I'm saying I don't even think about what you're doing But alll I saw was what I wanted to be There's just no room in there for me I don't want a lover - I just need a friend I know you never cared - Now that I know it wasn't love
10.
I feel young - I gotta feed it I feel hard - I gotta see it I feel ya - I gotta feel it I feel hard - I gotta see it When I was young I had a secret When I was strong I had a weakness When I was loved I had to waste it When I was hard I had to taste it And I'm taking myself to you tonight And I'm saving myself for you tonight And I'm wasting myself on you tonight And I'm making myself with you tonight I feel loved - I feel hard - I feel strong - I feel ya

about

‘Exotic Ladies Of Birobidzhan’ is the new album from melbourne singer/ songwriter/ producer Simona Castricum.

This album is about an experience of gender transition. It’s an account of the extremities, isolation, and abandonment and the places one travels to; mentally, emotionally, metaphorically - to survive, to escape, to err and ultimately to triumph and to realise a sense of self. It is also an invitation to see the construct of the grotesque and the exotic through prism of transgender and a reflection of the roles transgendered woman - and trans* performers - are expected to play.

“It’s a poetic, musical and psychological diary of a place I went to in my mind - Birobidzhan - inspired by a significant cross-cultural and intellectual friendship which bore enlightening exchanges about migration, music, identity and extremis. It’s about the fantasy, the accident and the failure of utopias - real, invisible or imagined cities: broken homes, dysfunctional families and a tribute to the people who accepted me into their family and gave me hope” - Simona Castricum.

Sonically, Simona (whom under the former monika Fluorescent, released 2 albums - ‘Winter’ & ‘Post Nuclear’) continues to explore the combination of new wave and shoegaze melancholia with energised percussive elements of techno and house. Six years in the making - the result is an album of stadium technopop - her most complete work yet -and a triumphant coming out record of all sorts.
